Beach clubs in Santorini

Ten clubs on the black volcanic sand of the south coast, from casual €20 loungers at Perissa to upscale cabanas at Perivolos.

The beach clubs in Santorini sit away from the famous caldera, on the black volcanic sand of the south and southeast coasts. There are ten worth knowing, most of them clustered on Perivolos, the island's longest black-sand beach. Prices run from about €20 for a lounger at Perissa to €60-125 for a front-row cabana at the upscale Perivolos spots.

These are lounge-by-the-sea places, not the party machines of Mykonos. The mood is calmer, the food is often the main event, and the spend is noticeably lower. Season runs May to October, with July and August the busiest.

Perivolos holds the biggest cluster of stylish clubs, with Perissa next door running a cheaper, more casual strip. Kamari has its own black-sand scene on the east coast, and Vlychada hides one of the Mediterranean's most scenic beach bars.

For the rest of the country's coast, see our guide to beach clubs in Greece.

What is the best beach club in Santorini?

For food and service, FortyOne on Perivolos is the one most people land on, with seafood, sushi, and live music through the day. For scenery, Theros Wave Bar at Vlychada wins, set against volcanic cliffs on a lunar-looking stretch of sand.

If you want the polished, champagne-and-cabanas version, Wet Stories and Seaside Santorini are the upscale picks, both on Perivolos. For a cheaper, quieter day, head to Perissa.

How much do beach clubs in Santorini cost?

At the casual end, a lounger at Perissa or Kamari runs about €20, and some spots knock it off if you order food and drinks. That's roughly half what you'd pay for the equivalent on Mykonos.

Perivolos is where prices climb. A sunbed at Wet Stories starts around €60, front-row and canopy beds cost more, and its VIP area runs a €350 minimum spend. Book the Perivolos clubs about two weeks ahead in high summer.

Perivolos is the heart of the scene. Five of the island's best clubs sit within a short walk on the same black-sand stretch.

FortyOne

Black-sand loungers and beachfront dining at FortyOne, Perivolos Beach

FortyOne sits directly on the black sand of Perivolos, and most islanders will tell you it's the strongest club for food and service. The kitchen runs seafood and Mediterranean plates, including sushi, with house and live music through the day.

There's a smart-elegant dress code and a stylish crowd. Massages, candlelit dinners, and the odd fireworks night round it out. Sunbeds and cabanas pre-book on the venue's site.

Book ahead in July and August. €€€ pricing.

Wet Stories

Front-row cabanas and cocktails at Wet Stories, Perivolos Beach

Wet Stories is one of the most popular clubs on Perivolos, built around a Japanese-Mediterranean menu and signature cocktails. Sunbeds start around €60, front-row and canopy beds cost more, and towels, showers, and changing rooms come with a bed.

The crowd is polished and champagne-focused, and there's a VIP area with a €350 minimum spend. It's the pick if you want the upscale version of a Santorini beach day without leaving Perivolos.

€€€ pricing.

Seaside Santorini

Balinese beds and Mediterranean dining at Seaside Santorini, Perivolos Beach

Seaside Santorini has run on Perivolos since 2004, which makes it one of the older upmarket names on the beach. It's dining-led, with beachfront cabanas, Balinese beds, and a Mediterranean menu that's picked up international awards.

Open daily from around noon to midnight. It's the choice for a refined lunch by the sea rather than a party. €€€ pricing.

Jojo Beach Bar

Tiki bar, pool, and Bali beds at Jojo Beach Bar, Perivolos Beach

Jojo Beach Bar is the party option on Perivolos, styled as a Tahiti-inspired Tiki bar with a palm-frond roof. It belongs to the Joy Beach Hotel and has an in-bar swimming pool alongside Bali beds on the sand.

Themed nights and DJ sets pull a younger crowd, and the late afternoon is when it fills up. Come for the party, not a quiet lunch. €€ pricing.

Chilli Beach Bar

Wooden beach beds under shade canopies at Chilli Beach Bar, Perivolos Beach

Chilli Beach Bar is the relaxed, better-value spot on Perivolos. Wooden beds sit under shade canopies, and a lounger runs about €20, with front-row packages adding towels, fruit, and local wine.

Each booking seats up to four, with extra guests on beach poufs. The food is Mediterranean and the mood is low-key and friendly. €€ pricing.

Perissa is the same long bay, just north, and it runs cheaper and more casual than Perivolos. Two beach bars here are worth your time.

The Beach Bar

All-day lounging on the black sand at The Beach Bar, Perissa Beach

The Beach Bar is one of the oldest spots on Perissa, known to locals by exactly that name. It's an all-day place for finger food and lounging on the black sand or at big wooden tables.

Summer brings live music nights and after-dinner DJ sets. It's casual and long-running, with none of the Perivolos polish or prices. €€ pricing.

Waves Chill Out Santorini

Quiet sunbeds on the black volcanic sand at Waves Chill Out, Perissa Beach

Waves Chill Out Santorini is the quiet one on Perissa, secluded and squarely not a party spot. Sunbeds cost about €20, and are sometimes free if you order, with prices highest in July and August.

The food is casual, think sandwiches and salads, with live music nights and drinks late into the evening. It's the pick if you want the black sand without a soundtrack. € pricing.

Over on the east coast, Kamari has its own black-sand beach and a calmer, family-friendly feel.

Soul by Splash

Bean bags and swing chairs on the black sand at Soul by Splash, Kamari Beach

Soul by Splash is an all-day bar and restaurant on the black sand of Kamari. It runs from breakfast through dinner, with a kitchen led by chef John Boukouvalas and vegetarian and gluten-free options on the menu.

Seating is oversized bean bags, wooden loungers, swing chairs, and beach beds under palm-leaf umbrellas. It's friendly and casual, and suits a full day rather than a quick stop. €€ pricing.

The last two are west at Vlychada, where the sand meets a wall of sculpted volcanic cliffs.

Theros Wave Bar

Lounge beds against volcanic cliffs at Theros Wave Bar, Vlychada

Theros Wave Bar sits on the Vlychada and Mesa Pigadia stretch, against volcanic cliffs that give it a lunar look. It's often voted one of the best beach bars in the Mediterranean, and it splits into a beach bar, a restaurant, and a wide lounge-bed area.

Live bands play on special nights, and it's laid-back and scenic, better for couples than partiers. Open May to October. €€ pricing.

Royal Beach Club Santorini

Private black-sand beach and buffet terrace at Royal Beach Club Santorini, Vlychada

Royal Beach Club Santorini opened in summer 2026 at Vlychada, the first Royal Caribbean beach club in Europe. It's a private black-sand beach sold as an all-inclusive shore-excursion day, with an all-you-can-eat Greek buffet and unlimited beer, house wine, and soft drinks.

One catch: it's not open to the general public. Access is limited to Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Silversea cruise guests, plus local Greek residents. If you're sailing in on one of those lines, it's an easy, sorted beach day. €€€ day package.

Frequently asked questions about Santorini beach clubs

Do you need to book beach clubs in Santorini in advance?

For the Perivolos clubs in July and August, yes. Book sunbeds and cabanas at FortyOne, Wet Stories, and Seaside Santorini about two weeks ahead in high summer. The casual spots at Perissa and Kamari are more walk-up friendly, though front-row beds still go early on weekends.

Which Santorini beach has the best beach clubs?

Perivolos has the biggest cluster, with the island's most stylish, upscale clubs on one black-sand stretch. Perissa, the same bay just north, is cheaper and more casual. Kamari has a calmer, family-friendly scene on the east coast, and Vlychada holds the scenic Theros Wave Bar.

When are Santorini's beach clubs open?

Most run from May to October, with July and August the peak and the priciest. The Perivolos clubs and Theros Wave Bar keep full hours through high summer. Outside those months, expect reduced service or closures, so check ahead in spring and autumn.

Are Santorini's beaches actually sandy?

Yes, but the sand is black volcanic grit, not the pale sand you might picture. It looks striking and photographs well, but it gets very hot underfoot in midday sun, so bring sandals. Perissa, Perivolos, and Kamari are the main black-sand beaches with clubs.

Are Santorini beach clubs like the ones in Mykonos?

Not really, they're closer to lounge bars by the sea, with the food and setting front and centre rather than big DJ parties. Prices are noticeably lower too. For the closest thing to a party, head to Jojo Beach Bar on Perivolos.
