Seminyak is the original strip, dense with sunset lounges and daybeds like Potato Head along the sand. Canggu is the surf-town version, laid-back and all-day, with Finns leading the pack.
Uluwatu puts its clubs on the clifftops above the surf breaks, best at sunset. Nusa Dua and Jimbaran run calmer, resort-anchored versions on the bay.
Away from Bali, the Gili Islands keep it backpacker-chic, with day beds and reggae bars on the sand.
Bali is warm year round, with the April to October dry season the best time to go and July and August the busiest.
