There are three real beach clubs in Biarritz, and they don't look like the Riviera's. This is an Atlantic surf town, so you won't find rows of hired loungers on private plages the way you do in Nice or Cannes. What you get instead are restaurant-bar-lounges on or above the sand, built for cocktails, DJ sets and a long beach-day mood.

All three sit within a short walk of each other in the town centre. Prices run on the upscale side, this being Biarritz, but you're paying for the terrace and the sunset, not a daybed tariff. The season runs broadly spring to autumn, with the beaches busiest in July and August.

Does Biarritz have beach clubs?

Can you rent sunbeds on the beaches in Biarritz?

On the Grande Plage a municipal service hires out deckchairs, tents and parasols, but only from 1 July to 31 August, next to the children's Club Mickey. The beach clubs themselves are about the terrace, the food and the drinks, not a row of hired beds on the sand.

Bar de la Plage

Bar de la Plage is the main beach club on the Grande Plage, down on the sand below the casino. It runs a Balinese, tropical look, and it's the one spot here that feels like a proper beach bar rather than a restaurant with a view.

The kitchen does homemade plates, a tapas menu and cocktails facing the ocean, plus a Sunday brunch. Come the weekend it turns into a night bar, with resident DJs playing house, hip-hop and pop until 2am.

La Petite Plage

La Petite Plage is a bohemian beach lounge on the Port Vieux side, on a terrace facing the Cote des Basques. It's part of the same group as the La Petite Plage spots in Saint-Tropez and Saint-Barth, and it shows.

The card is summery and sun-driven, signed by chef Eric Frechon, with a cocktail bar and a soundtrack from the Bon Entendeur label. It's built for golden-hour drinks and long dinners under the stars.

It stays open to midnight, later on weekends. Reservations are worth making for dinner and for sunset. €€€

Roc Seven Biarritz

Roc Seven Biarritz is a double-rooftop restaurant and bar above the Port Vieux cove, part of the Fahrenheit Seven collection. It opened in April 2025 on the old Les Baigneuses site.

There are two panoramic terraces, an outdoor bar and DJ sets over the Atlantic, with a menu that leans Mediterranean. The draw is the clear sunset view over the sea, and nine hotel rooms sit above.
