Beach clubs in Alicante

Two clubs on the Costa Blanca: a budget chiringuito on the sand and a pool party venue at the port.

Alicante has two beach clubs in Alicante worth knowing about. One is a casual chiringuito right on the sand at Playa de San Juan, the other a pool party venue at the city's fishing port. Prices at both are well below what you'd pay at comparable clubs in Ibiza or Marbella.

This isn't a party capital or luxury resort strip. The beach club scene here reflects Alicante's character: unpretentious, affordable, and heavily local. The season runs April to October, with July and August as peak months.

The two clubs are a few kilometres apart. Xeven sits in the San Juan beach area north of the centre, NALU at the Dársena Pesquera closer to the old town. For a bigger scene, Benidorm beach clubs are an hour north along the Costa Blanca.

For beaches to visit between clubs, the Alicante tourism portal covers the full Costa Blanca coastline.

What is the best beach club in Alicante?

For a day on the sand, Xeven Beach Club on Playa de San Juan is the pick. It's the more established of the two, with a relaxed crowd, good cocktails, and a longer track record. Families and groups both do well here.

NALU Beach Club at the port is the better option if you want a pool and DJ sets, but it's currently listed as temporarily closed. Check their website before making plans. If it's open when you visit, it suits an evening-into-night crowd rather than a daytime beach crowd.

Do you need to book beach clubs in Alicante in advance?

NALU Beach Club requires reservations and takes a prepaid deposit at the time of booking. Walk-ins are not an option there. Book at least a few days ahead for summer weekends.

Xeven Beach Club accepts reservations but you can often walk in mid-week. In July and August, it gets busy enough that booking ahead is worth doing if you want a specific sunbed spot. Off-peak, the beach is rarely full.

Xeven Beach Club

Outdoor cocktail bar and sunbeds at Xeven Beach Club, Playa de San Juan

Xeven Beach Club sits on Avenida de Niza, right on the sand at Playa de San Juan a few kilometres north of the city centre. It functions as a chiringuito more than a polished day club, which suits the area's relaxed, local character. The setup is sunbeds and hammocks facing the sea, with a bar and terrace behind.

Cocktails and mojitos are the main draw. Sangria, coffee, small plates, salads, and brunch run through the day into late evening. After dark, the crowd gets livelier with dancing and late-night food keeping things going.

Prices are at the low end for this coast, making it an easy pick for a casual afternoon or a full day out. Reservations are accepted and smart in July and August. The venue has a kids' area with a children's menu, free Wi-Fi, and full wheelchair access, including the entrance, parking, and restrooms.

It's one of the best-known spots on Playa de San Juan. Service can be hit and miss on peak summer weekends, but the cocktails and location keep most people coming back.

NALU Beach Club

Pool terrace with sunbeds at NALU Beach Club, Dársena Pesquera, Alicante port

NALU Beach Club is at the Dársena Pesquera, Alicante's fishing port. It's a pool party venue and disco club: daytime cocktails around the pool, then DJ sets and dancing into the night. The pool is the centrepiece, lined with premium sunbeds and daybeds.

Reservations are required and include a prepaid deposit, typically around €140 for a sunbed package. Free parking is on site, a genuine bonus for the port location. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible.

NALU is currently listed as temporarily closed. Check their website before planning a visit. When open, reviews split between strong praise for the music and pool atmosphere, and criticism over service consistency and how refunds on deposits are handled.

Frequently asked questions about Alicante beach clubs

How much do beach clubs in Alicante cost?

Alicante's beach clubs are affordable by Spanish coastal standards. Xeven Beach Club is at the budget end: expect around €8-12 for cocktails and €10-20 for food, making it one of the cheaper beach days on the Costa Blanca. NALU Beach Club is mid-range, with sunbed packages around €140 prepaid at booking.

Are Alicante beach clubs open all year?

Both clubs run seasonally, roughly April through October. NALU Beach Club is currently listed as temporarily closed, so check their website before visiting. Xeven Beach Club on Playa de San Juan may stay open longer but reduces hours in winter, so it's worth calling ahead if you're visiting outside summer.

Are beach clubs in Alicante family-friendly?

Xeven Beach Club is the better choice for families. It has a kids' area with a children's menu, full wheelchair access, and a relaxed daytime atmosphere that suits all ages. NALU Beach Club leans toward a younger adult crowd with its pool party and DJ-focused setup, and it's currently temporarily closed.

What's the difference between a beach club and a chiringuito in Alicante?

A chiringuito is a casual beachfront bar, typically drinks and simple food with a few tables or chairs. A beach club is a more managed experience: sunbeds, food menus, cocktail service, and often a pool or DJ setup. Xeven Beach Club sits between the two, while NALU is the full club experience.
