Beefree Chiringuito & Beach Club sits on Costa Ballena beach in Rota, on the Atlantic coast of Cádiz. It's a chiringuito at heart, but one that runs a full restaurant, cocktail bar and beer garden from breakfast through to dinner.
Sunbeds and umbrellas line the sand out front. The crowd is mixed, families included, with a kids' area, a kids' menu, and dogs welcome inside and out. Sunset over the Atlantic is a recurring highlight in reviews, and the views draw people back.
Prices run around €20-30 per person. Reservations are accepted and free street parking is available nearby. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Live music and DJ sets are part of the regular programme.
Rated 3.8 from 1,093 reviews. About half of guests give it five stars, but 15% leave one star. Service inconsistency and uneven food quality are the main complaints that come up.
Note: the venue is currently temporarily closed. Check the website or call ahead before visiting.
Espeto is what people come for. Grilled sardines are the most talked-about dish, and bluefin tuna and tuna salad also get consistent praise. The rice is specifically called out as a highlight in multiple reviews.
The kitchen covers the full day: breakfast, lunch and dinner are all on offer. Drinks include beer, wine, coffee and cocktails, with the bar busiest during the sunset slot.
Some guests flag inconsistency: strong dishes on one visit, underwhelming on the next. The clams and croquettes have drawn mixed feedback. Sticking to the espetos and fish is the safer bet.
Prices sit around €20-30 per person for a typical meal. Bread is charged as a cover, so factor that in. Groups with drinks can push the total up quickly, as a family of four with children came to €147 in one reviewed visit.
Yes, reservations are accepted. It's worth booking ahead for sunset slots and summer weekends when the terrace fills up.
Espetos (skewered grilled sardines) are the main draw. Bluefin tuna and tuna salad also get consistent mentions, and the rice gets specific praise. Some dishes, including the clams, have been more hit or miss across reviews.
Yes. There's a dedicated kids' area, a kids' menu, and dogs are allowed inside and out. It's one of the more relaxed family options on Costa Ballena.
Free street parking is available close to the venue. There's no dedicated car park, but finding a spot outside peak summer weekends isn't usually a problem.

Expensive and poor quality. 2 stars for the rice, which was delicious. The clams were sandy, stiff, and cost €16. The tripe croquettes (the kids didn't eat them, being kids) were tasteless, and the potato salad tasted like nothing. In total, 4 adults, 2 children (aged 3), and 2 babies, it cost €147. However, they charged us for the bread for 8 people.
They treated us like chickens throwing away their feed. The service was negative. The waiters didn't want to work. I put down my tray full of drinks while they watched! How rude! It gets worse every day, and the food is terrible. We won't be back.
