Macaao Beach Club is right on the beach in San Pedro de Alcántara, on the Costa del Sol between Marbella and Estepona. It's a beachfront chiringuito with a full restaurant, sunbeds and a DJ booth. The beach location is the main draw.
The atmosphere is casual and trendy. Groups and tourists make up most of the crowd, but it's family friendly and suits solo dining too. Music runs from the DJ during the day, and the outdoor seating faces directly onto the sand.
Prices sit at €€. Reservations are recommended for brunch, lunch and dinner, so don't just walk in on a busy afternoon. Open seven days a week from 10am, it closes at 7pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends.
Rated 3.9 from 599 reviews. Just under half give it five stars, but around 110 are one or two stars, so it's not universally loved. The consistent praise is for the views, food quality and friendly staff. Complaints tend to centre on slow service or the price point.
There's free parking on site, which is a genuine bonus for a beachfront venue on this stretch of coast. The place is also wheelchair accessible.
The menu covers brunch, lunch and dinner, with small plates and salads doing well. Several reviewers mention getting three full courses, which suggests it works as a proper sit-down meal rather than just snacks on the beach.
Cocktails, wine and coffee all come in for praise. Beer, including local options alongside sangria, is popular. Healthy choices are available too if you want something lighter.
Prices sit at €€, mid-range for the Costa del Sol. One recent reviewer summed it up as "fully priced", which is fair for a beachfront spot with full table service.
Yes, and reservations are recommended for brunch, lunch and dinner. Walk-ins may be possible but it's not guaranteed, especially at busier times.
It is. There's a kids area on site and the venue is listed as good for children. The casual beach setting makes it a straightforward option for families.
